Thurmond earned his undergraduate degree at Vanderbilt University, where he graduated with honors, and his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Thurmond is admitted to practice in South Carolina and before the U.S. District Court, District of South Carolina.

Math teacher from Mount Vernon High killed in W.Va. Accident |. A veteran mathematics teacher at Mount Vernon High School was killed Wednesday morning in a crash in central West Virginia. Jonathan Brown, 53, died in the crash in Bentree, about 40 miles southeast of Charleston.
